Hello Catherine,

The vast majority of the grants and other funding streams that we see are for organizations located in the United States, and as a result that is what we post on our blog. However, I know that Grants.gov frequently advertises funding streams intended to help organizations in other countries, and the philanthropic arms of very large companies, such as the Coca-Cola Foundation, serve non-U.S. organizations, particularly with educational needs. A quick Google search for "building libraries in Africa" yielded many more avenues to explore.

I hope that that helps. Good luck!

I would like to find out more about your library grants. We are in Africa Zambia and we need library books for children. We noticed that the reading culture in our country if very low so we want to boost the reading culture by opening a library for children only. Most of the libraries in Zambia only cater for adults and in public libraries there is only a small corner for children. Therefore, its my sincere hope that one day the children will have there own big library.
May you please help me on this issue how we can have access to grants or how we can get books for children.

Thank you for your comment! I agree that the OWL at Purdue is another great resource. I often find myself using this resource for quick references when I do not have access to the APA manual.

Padric –

I think that is an excellent question! When I read it, two questions immediately came to mind – do students see/experience bullying that the teachers are missing (e.g., halls, lunchroom)? and do teachers and students have a shared understanding or definition of bullying?

Also, what data collection techniques are you using? Would you learn more about why the gap between students and teachers exists if the data collection techniques were switched up a bit?

I’d love to hear more about the program and continue discussing your evaluation!

Interesting... One of the important aspects of the education program that I evaluate at the UN Association in Mexico is school violence, and what we have noticed is that, not only is there a difference between teachers and administrators (as demonstrated above), but between teachers and students. In survey after survey, our teachers say the classroom is a more peaceful place with little violence after implementing our Program. But when we ask the children, the results indicate very high levels of bullying and school violence. Yes, the program often has positive results in combatting bullying, but not as positive as perceived by the teachers. My question is: How can we further develop our Program and our evaluation to close the gap between teachers and students?

Jen, I think that’s a great way of explaining it. Everyone understands the idea of ‘effectiveness’ in running a program or business – using a keyword like that could really simplify the explanation process. I'll have to use a similar statement when explaining to my family for the hundredth time what it is I do here at ACET!
