The SpectrumTrust Multicultural Endowment, a part of The Saint Paul Foundation, is asking for applications to provide grants to groups throughout Minnesota who are looking to develop projects to alleviate racism, especially in the areas of education, housing, or employment. The mission for establishing this endowment is “to improve the quality of life of Minnesota’s communities of color through building relevant and long-lasting philanthropic resources that promote social justice and cross-cultural understanding.”
The Multicultural Endowment is interested in projects that accomplish one or more of the following:
- Build community-based responses to the effects of racism
- Change attitudes and behaviors
- Change policies to reflect inclusion and fairness
- Offer social and economic opportunities
Grants of up to $20,000 will be offered and submissions are due by Tuesday, August 31, 2010.

With regret, we announce that Heather Scholz is leaving us to pursue new opportunities at The Wayside House, Inc. (www.waysidehouse.org) effective June 25, 2010. Heather has done exemplary work as Research and Evaluation Associate over the last two years with many clients, including a chemical health agency, a youth mentoring nonprofit, and a secondary services provider for those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Heather will be joining The Wayside House as a Development and Executive Coordinator, where she will be managing their new arts program and coordinating internal evaluation activities, as well as organizing and assisting with development and volunteer activities.

You may have noticed that our blog has been inaccessible over the past week. Our blog vendor recently updated their software, which created incompatibilities for many of their users. The incompatibility in the latest version has been fixed so our blog is back up and running!
